Students from Colonel Richardson and North Caroline High Schools, and Colonel Richardson and Lockerman Middle Schools have been chosen for the prestigious All-Shore Band, Chorus, and Orchestra ensembles.
Students from every school system on the Eastern Shore competed for a limited number of positions in a rigorous audition process. Students receive and prepare audition music early in the school year before gathering at one of the tryout locations in January and February. In addition, they have to prepare multiple scales and solos, and are required to perform music they have never seen before. Students are then scored, ranked and chosen based on their placement in the ranking.
“We are extremely proud of these talented musicians and singers,” said Supervisor of Instruction Renee Hesson. “The number of Caroline students selected to perform was impressive, and speaks to the skill and dedication of their music teachers.”
The All Shore Band Concert will take place on April 13 at Easton High School. The All Shore Chorus Concert is scheduled for April 19 at James M. Bennett High School.
All Shore Band was established sometime in the mid-’70s; several Caroline staff members went through the process of auditioning and qualifying when they were students. All Shore Chorus began in the mid-’80s and has grown since then to two ensembles, and All Shore Orchestra was created in 2017.
