This is the final reminder to all PES Families: Field Day is this tomorrow, Friday, June 2nd, 2023. Please refer to the Field Day information letter that has been sent home (and is also included in this week's newsletter) for all of the information. We are also happy to announce that all students this year will receive a free Sno-Cone courtesy of the Highland Ice Company! Sno-Cones will also be available for purchase for all adults. Please remember sunscreen, a water bottle, and appropriate clothing to enjoy all the field day fun.

S is for sunglasses! Today we had sunglasses day. We got to wear our sunglasses inside all day!! We read “Pete the Cat and His Magic Sunglasses,” wrote about what we would see if we had magic sunglasses and designed sunglasses we would like to have. We also enjoyed a sweet treat in the sunshine while wearing our sunglasses! The ABC Countdown continues! #pespantherpride #abccountdown

Our 1st grade got to go to Adkins Arboretum today on their field trip! Judging by all of their smiling faces, this was one day that they will never forget! #pespantherpride

This event is happening on June 8th. All students will participate, and do not need a yearbook to enjoy the fun! Thank you to our amazing PTO for, once again, taking care of our Panthers. ❤️❤️❤️

Portfolio day is always a great day for our Panthers! They have done a lot of amazing artwork all year long with our fabulous art teachers, Mr. Lambert and and Ms. Asbury! We hope all of the families at home enjoy their portfolios as they bring them home to show you this week! #pespantherpride

The ABC Kindergarten Countdown continues! R is for rainbow 🌈! Our Kindergarten Panthers read the rainbow fish and made rainbow themed crafts today! Looks like they had so much fun! #pespantherpride #abccountdown

One of our favorite events of the year is when our CRHS graduates come back to PES to walk our halls and get cheered on by our current Panthers! Congratulations to the class of 2022-2023! Videos coming soon! #pespantherpride

History was made today as PES celebrated their very first wedding!! Kindergarten gathered together today to celebrate the wedding of Q & U and join them in words forever. Mr. Q & Mrs. U vowed to be partners and stand together forever in words like quack, quail, quiver and quarters. Kindergarteners promised to always use the letter U after Q and all lived happily ever after. Everyone celebrated after with what can only be described as the most beautiful wedding reception to take place in a kindergarten courtyard 🎉🤍 #PESpantherpride #abccountdown

Thank you so much to the Caroline County Sheriff's Office and our amazing Caroline Career & Technology Center students for making today’s Career Day so engaging! PES students enjoyed learning about so many potential career opportunities and job skills. The future is looking bright for all of these Panthers dressed up as their future careers 🤩 Big thanks to Mrs. Sherman, our incredible guidance counselor, for planning Career Day and for all of those involved who made it a success! #CarolineFamily #PESpantherpride

We have a very special group of Panthers (and teachers) that have worked extra hard these past 70 days 👏🏻 For the past 12 weeks, this group has attended before school tutoring at 7:30 AM every day and their hard work definitely shows!! This morning they enjoyed a special and well-deserved celebration 🎉 🍪
Thank you to all the teachers that supported before school tutoring and parents and families for their commitment to this program ❤️ #pespantherpride
If you give a Preston Panther before school tutoring… 📚

Congratulations to this weeks PES PAWSITIVE Referral recipients! Hazelee, Chance, Sadie, Becky and Brycen are doing a great job! These students are showing their PAWS each and every day! #PESpantherpride

Congratulations to Caitlin Ober for being chosen as the PES Book Reviewer of the Week!
The book that she gave a 5 star review for is the book Crossover by Kwame Alexander.
Josh Bell, known on and off the court doesn’t lack self-confidence, but neither does he lack the skills to back up his own mental in-game commentary: I rise like a Learjet-/ seventh-graders aren-t supposed to dunk./ But guess what?/ I snatch the ball out of the air and/ SLAM!/ YAM! IN YOUR MUG!- Josh is sure that he and his twin brother, JB, are going pro, following in the footsteps of their father, who played professional ball in Europe. The poems dodge and weave with the speed of a point guard driving for the basket, mixing basketball action with vocabulary-themed poems, newspaper clippings, and Josh’s sincere first-person accounts that swing from moments of swagger-worthy triumph to profound pain. This verse novel delivers a real emotional punch before the final buzzer.
Caitlin said that the poems were neat and inspiring. She said that because she read this book, she feels that she can do anything she puts her mind to! She has read all of Kwame Alexander’s books. You can find them in the Fiction and Graphic Novel sections of our library. Congratulations Caitlin! #PESReads #PESPantherPride

Congrats to Miss Nicole Cayer! Miss Cayer is our staff member of the week! Miss Cayer does an outstanding job with Mrs. Harris down in our Pre-K 3 program, and every day those little Panthers feel loved and cherished by their amazing team! The fierce level of care and love Miss Cayer has for her Panthers is evident each and every day, and she is helping those students learn so much at such an early age! We are so lucky to have you here at Preston!!

P is for popcorn and pajamas! Kindergarten sure knows how to make every day purposeful and playful 🍿

Our Pre-K3 students have celebrated each color all year long and today was the final celebration with rainbow day 🌈 PES was happy to help our littlest panthers celebrate 🎉

For the letter ‘O’, kindergarten celebrated with 'O'utdoor lessons. The children eagerly explored, delighting in the vibrant colors of nature and the joy of learning all around them.🌱
